Artist Statement
Employing meticulous autobiographical research, I work between live performance, video installation, and writing. Stylistically, I pull from corporate self-betterment programs, documentary filmmaking, and new media to simulate how images of brown bodies are circulated and controlled. My video-essays unpack more nuanced issues of access, identity formation, assimilation, and images to rethink history and identify the fictions that govern contemporary life and speculative futures.
