Artist Statement
Our past burdens give shape to what worlds we may build, now and in the future. As an artist my interests lie in unpacking these inherited struggles, in understanding the mold they imprint on our present selves, and in affording collective catharsis. With this in mind, through collaboration, research, education, stereo-photography, printmaking, bookmaking, video, and socially engaged art projects, I’ve pursued work at concentration camp memorials in Germany, at Sahrawi Refugee camps in Algeria, in Brazil, Chile, Spain, Palestine, gentrifying cities like Portland, OR, in schools, museums, neighborhoods, and within my own family.
