Artist Statement
I am an interdisciplinary artist who lives and works in the San Diego/Tijuana border region. My artistic practice examines questions of identity, migration, citizenship, emergency poetics, landscape, and memory. I work in a variety of media from social and material sculpture to photography and video to performative installations and creative and academic writing. My current “bureaucrartistic” project Welcome to Colonia Libertad focuses on the revision of one of the most profoundly conceptual pieces the human mind has achieved: citizenship and the nation-state.
