Artist Statement
I am known as a solo performer, filmmaker, creative writer and theatre artist. I come primarily from a lineage of Xicana Indigenous lesbian feminist inquiry and aesthetics. My work finds ways to explore the intersectional needs of my communities: Two Spirit, LGBTQIA+/people of color, womyn, immigrants, ancestral and indigenous based. When we create a shared artistic experience together—my prayer is that we can make some good medicine to take out into the world. Often, my work is couched in the resilience and healing found in critical humor. In this way, I hope my work honors the long tradition of sacred-clowning and community building. I am indebted to my supporters and collaborators of past, present and future. I hope to keep honoring my ancestors by continuing to grow into the vision they had for me.
